DIVISIONS

Model United Nations

Model United Nations (MUN) is a simulation of the United Nations in which participants take up roles as delegates from various countries and then investigate, debate and develop solutions to global problems.

TeamLSE is LSE’s Model United Nations team. We proudly represent LSE at a diverse range of UK conferences, and plan to take our students to compete internationally this academic year. We also host two annual conferences: LSEMUN and LSE YouthMUN, inviting university and under-18 students to compete and develop their skills. As a team, we develop our members' public-speaking, lobbying, negotiations, research, and policy-writing skills through weekly trainings. Our members are passionate and competent individuals, reflecting a high quality and standard of diplomatic skills, winning a total of 42 awards in the 2021-22 academic year alone. In organising conferences, the leadership team for our two annual conferences are drawn from our members and they gain valuable experience in event-planning and execution as they shepherd hundreds of domestic and international attendees.

CAREERS

This division of the society assists students pursuing careers in the UN and related international organisations. We provide this by relying on our wide range of professional connections and tight-knit alumni network. The division holds events such as career panels, mentorship schemes and networking events for students to gain insight into the world of international development and the United Nations. Engaging with the core values of the UN, our careers events involve a variety of organisations and firms in the field of international development, arbitration, consultancy and the United Nations itself.

OUTREACH

This division strives to connect our members with the current endeavours of the UN and help them engage in issues they care about. We collaborate with field experts to provide over 20 speaker events per year, as well as our five-day “awareness week” where we delve into a specific issue, focusing on “International peace and development” last year. We also run fundraising events for our fantastic partner charities, including Blue Dragon Children’s Foundation and UNHCR. This year, we are offering opportunities for our members to volunteer for initiatives they care about through our new volunteer team.
