Al Jazeera Documentary Marathon: Challenges in Asia

  • LSE Hong Kong Theatre

At the end of a long and tiring week, what better activity is there than to curl up and watch a movie - while educating yourself?

Come on down to our Al Jazeera documentary marathon! Refreshments will be provided and we will be screening two films that depict very different types of problems faced by two countries in Asia.

1) GENOCIDE AGENDA in Myanmar. In this powerful 48 minute film, Al Jazeera exposes the inner workings of the Myanmar regime, providing 'strong evidence' of a genocide against the Rohingya minority

2) THE END OF CHINA INC? In this 28 minute film, 101 East investigates 'ghost towns' left as a result of a severe economic slowdown and heavy debt. The question on everyone's mind is then: this is the end of China Inc?

Come for either one of the movies or both! The films will be screened on a large projector and refreshments will be provided - all the better to bring your friends down for a meaningful Friday night-time marathon.
